Lenten Devotionals for 2020

https://www.shepherdstownumc.org/Grow/Lenten-Devotional

The Discipleship Team is planning on producing another Lenten devotional similar to last year. The difference this year is that not only will it be in booklet form as last year, but also in an electronic format. The electronic format will be provided in various methods such as on a weekly or daily basis. The electronic formats can be delivered to your email or other electronic media based upon your individual desire. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a daily reminder to read a devotional by a contributor you may know?

We will use a similar format as last year where there is a Bible passage, then the devotional text, a prayer, and some details about the author. The last part we want you to personalize the submission, so that we can use this initiative to reach others in our congregation who might not know you, and also those who may see these devotionals outside our church community. Generally the devotionals are one page but if shorter or longer, we can accommodate.

We are announcing this effort in the Advent season so as you feel a closeness to Jesus at his birth, it may foster an idea for a devotional to be used during Lent. Devotionals can be written on an electronic format (Word, etc.) and submitted to the link above or done on paper and turned into the church office. We are accepting submissions starting December 1st and will be closing January 31st so we can get the devotionals put together to distribute appropriately for the Lenten Season.

You may submit up to five devotionals. Last year we had over half submitted by current members and the rest were resubmissions from previous devotionals. We appreciated the participation last year and hope we can look forward to continued support in this Grow initiative.
