VENTURE

SUMC Youth Ministry

"But now, this is what the Lord says - He who created you, Jacob, He who formed you, Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; when you walk through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze."

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now, it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."

Isaiah 43:1-2,18-19

Like any good trek through the wilderness, life can be full of highs and lows... but unlike a hike up a mountain, life's path isn't always as clear as the next neon trail blaze. As people, and especially as Christians, we can get caught up in looking for the "right" path, whatever that may mean for us or our culture. But God never promises a clear path. In fact, He assures us we will face troubles. As Isaiah describes, we will walk through waters and fire. But what God does promise is that He will be with us. No matter what we are facing in the wilderness, He is as powerful as He was at the creation of the universe and as present as He was on resurrection day. As a community and a family, Venture is meant to be a reminder of that truth. In our discussions, our service, our interactions with the community, and our fun, our goal is to pursue God and to experience His life and love so that we may share it with others.
